There's an island where people can only communicate by talking. No hand gestures, no writing, no sign language at all.
A man on this island has been cursed. He can only say one word every year. However, if he doesn't say a word for one year, he can say two words the next year, etc. One day, he meets this absolutely beautiful girl, and he would like to speak with her. Due to his curse, he waits for 2 years, before saying to her, "My darling." Somehow, this causes the beautiful girl to fall in love with him. However, he would like to ask her to marry him. So, he spends time with her without saying a word for some years.
Finally, one day, he awakens from a peaceful nap next to her in a beautiful garden. He looks over, smiles and says after 9 whole years, "My darling, I love you, will you marry me?"
She breathes in deeply, turns to face him, opens her beautiful blue eyes and says,
"Pardon?"
