๐ŸŽช For your Amusement

Me at 18, being typical cynical. Fresh-out of high-school kid believed in the "I've given up in humanity" bullcrap working at a summer job at an amusement park, operating rides.

Presearch, a decentralized search engine.

Presearch is a community-powered, decentralized search engine that provides better results while protecting your privacy and rewarding you when you search. You can also search with Google, Duck Duck GO, Twitter, Youtube, Eitherscan, CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap or choose all at once, with privacy and no tracking. The Presearch Engine harnesses the power of a number of the world’s top search engines and other data sources to provide users with a compelling search experience that offers great results, protects user privacy, provides more choice and control, while also being censorship-resistant.

The Presearch Engine is a next-generation search engine built to provide the world with a decentralized alternative that operates more like a public utility on behalf of its community rather than shareholders.

Their vision is to create totally open and transparent algorithms that leverage blockchain technology and the human power of the Presearch community so that, similar to Wikipedia, anyone can participate in the creation and curation of the search index, providing superior results and censorship-resistance.

Presearch offers its users increased search choice and active personalization, where they are in control of their experience, rather than automated personalization built upon a foundation of tracking and profiling users.

The technologies used in their ecosystem is the Preserach Egine, PRE Tokens, Presearch node,  Presearch Keyword staking, Presearch Marketplace ,and Ethereum blockchain.

Presearch is open-source and they share their technology on Github for a decentralized search engine. Popular repositories includes presearch-packages, PRE-Token, and Web extensions.

"We believe that the best way to compete with the massive, centralized and monopolistic corporation that currently dominates search is to build a framework that enables people from all over the world to collaborate to build an open and decentralized search engine."

There Key Differentiators with this search engine:

Community Project

"Community members can actively participate in the project using Presearch community chat groups, contributing open source packages to our source code repository, or simply as users or promoters helping build usage and awareness."

Decentralized Platform

"Presearch is now preparing to release its first decentralized technology – a new search engine experience that runs on node servers operated by Presearch community members."

Better Search Results

"The new Presearch Engine offers results that are as good as the world’s top search engines. It also provides an additional layer of data through community packages which makes those results even better. For example, you can search Presearch for “Bitcoin” to see what the crypto package looks like. Over time, there will be additional results provided by a user-curated supplementary index."

"In addition to better results, Presearch also protects your privacy because it does not track you or store your searches, and queries are handled by a decentralized network of node servers processing anonymized queries."

"As a Presearch community member, you earn Presearch reward tokens when you search, when you operate a node, and when you refer others to join Presearch. There will be other opportunities to earn rewards as the project evolves further."

A New Kind Of Advertising Model

"In addition to offering users a great search experience, Presearch is dedicated to creating significant value for marketers who would like to reach Presearch users. Advertisers can stake their PRE to a keyword, and whichever advertiser stakes the most tokens will have its ads displayed when a user searches on the term selected. Advertisers confer the most external value on PRE, so their success is very important to the ecosystem."

The search results are less bias than other search engines.

For their mission and vision, they believe that "the world deserves a community-driven, grassroots, decentralized search engine that’s built by and for the community it serves."

"This search engine should reward those who contribute to its success, and leverage blockchain technology and cryptocurrency to align the interests of all of its stakeholders.

By becoming increasingly accountable and transparent, Presearch will earn the trust of its community, attracting many of the best and brightest to the project in the process.

This group of people, from all over the world, from all walks of life, with different faces and voices and beliefs and visions for the future, will find ways to collaborate together to create new and valuable ways to access information online.

These people will uncover methods of cycling value through the communities they support, using technologies they trust, generating wealth, preserving privacy and building freedom in the process."

They have Presearch Node software that can be installed by anyone on their computer or excess server capacity to help power the new Presearch decentralized search engine. By running node software, operators help crawl the web for the information needed to answer user search queries.

In exchange for providing computing resources, operators who stake PRE tokens can earn PRE rewards to offset the cost of hosting and provide incentive for more nodes to join the network and provide high-quality, reliable service.

Nodes run in a software environment called Docker that is supported by all major operating systems and server platforms. To install a node, you’ll first have to register for an operator code that you enter when you launch your node.

Presearch has a development roadmap contains an outline of what the team seeks to build as it develops its decentralized search engine and the supporting platforms needed to complete a fully-functional search and cryptocurrency ecosystem.

With guidelines people can contribute to this open source search engine, join the Presearch community and help build a decentralized alternative to the big tech search monopoly.

It's a great concept, but will it execute well? If so, can we trust it? I would say trust it more than Google, when it comes to privacy. We have know idea what US state this company is from or if they have other things in mind. But this is a better alternative to Google and it looks more decentralized than DuckDuckGo. We'll see, how it plays out...

Try it and see, if it suits your tastes.
